In November of last year, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the 2012 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention, which was held in Atlanta.
When I walked in that huge auditorium filled with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, & hearing scientists, I was just in awe. So many products, so much education, and so much enthusiasm radiated through that room. I consider myself very fortunate because I attended the conference while my husband was working at the convention. I felt like an undercover reporter; a vast majority of the attendees are speech therapists – not mothers. It was exciting to take a peek into their world.
I was able to check out the many resources on apraxia and it showed me that SO MUCH was out there if I just took the time to find the right person to help us uncover it. At the time, I also felt a little angry because Jake hadn’t been exposed to the many resources that were available.
Last year I came home with a giant, bright yellow Super Duper bag filled to the brim with brochures, product information, and therapy/educational resources to use at home. I’m still using many of them, but one particular product I never opened!
If you have been following my blog for a while, you may remember that last December my little Jake started to speak. Once he did, it took off like lightning. All of those beginning sounds that we worked on forever, finally started flowing out, and the new sounds that we had not worked on, followed their lead.
Because of that, I never used the FAME (Fun Affordable Motivating Effective) Articulation Workbook CD that focuses on the following sounds: F, V, K, G, R, S, L, SH, CH, and TH. This product was created by 2 Gals Speech Products.
The product description on Amazon says the following:
With FAME (Fun Affordable Motivating Effective) Articulation CD Workbook, each individual sound has 25 activities focusing on words, phrases, or sentences. The activities progress from imitative productions to spontaneous responses. The worksheets are appropriate for use in therapy or for homework. Each page has clear directions and an example of a correct response to ensure proper productions when practicing at home. Space is also provided for further specific instructions for the individual child. 250 worksheets on one CD that target the 10 most frequently misarticulated sounds: f, v, k, g, r, s, l, sh, ch, and th. Win/Mac.
The description on Teachers Pay Teachers says the following:
250 pages of FUN activity sheets for articulation on one convenient CD so you can print anytime anywhere as much as you need. 25 activities per sound. Practice on words, phrases and sentences.
Articulation practice that stimulates language skills too! Phrase worksheets encourage understanding of multiple meanings. Sentence worksheets encourage development of describing, classification, and attributes.

Also, if you want to know a little more about the creator(s) of this product, here is the bio from the blog …
I am a retired SLP and after becoming involved with other SLPs around the country (and world) I have been lovingly referred to as “SLPMomma”. Let’s face it I am old enough to be your Momma and Mommaw to your babies 😉 I started blogging when my business partner and I had 2 Gals Speech Products. That business closed in 2012 but I continued the blog. I finally decided it was time to let go of the brand name and just blog now as your SLPMomma.
Now for the fun part …
I would love to giveaway for free my unopened, never used FAME Articulation Workbook CD to one lucky parent or SLP. To register, simply leave a comment below or shoot me an email at tstarmom5@yahoo.com. A winner will randomly be selected. I will announce the winner one week from today on Thursday, November 21st.
Best of luck!
Would love a copy, exactly what we are working on now
Always looking for new things to work with at home. He get’s tired of things quickly these days.
I am the mother of a child with apraxia, and I work as an aba special education therapist for children with autism. I would love to add this cd to my bag of tools for my own son, as well as the many kids that I work with. I love your blog. Thanks so much!!
He’s tired of the same game worksheets from his SLP. Would love this as a way ti spice things up again! Thanks for offering it up.
It would be great to have another tool to work with – thanks!
For a mother with a child with very little, every resource counts. You can never have too many resources!!!
Awesome that you don’t need this Tori!!! Way to go Jake! So stinkin’ excited for his amazing progress and surge this last year! You both are amazing!!! Hugs! 🙂
Thanks Kristy! I think you’re amazing too and also send hugs your way! btw – Have you heard or checked out any of The Gluten Summit? I should have told you earlier about it, but today and tomorrow are the last 2 days. You can listen to online presentations from leading experts about gluten, food allergies, sensitivities, diet, etc. It is absolutely fascinating and has sent me on a major mission to heal my baby from his food allergies. Also, just found out my 9 year old has minor food allergies. How did this happen?!? Blows my mind. We’re going partial Paleo & non-GMO! It’s pretty extreme, but I’m hoping we will be able to hang in there!

Please enter me in the giveaway. I want to thank you for your blog and for your recommendations on the other good ones. I am busy reading through all of your posts. I am just discovering this world of other moms in the know, and this is where the real education is. My five year old son just completed his third year of traditional speech therapy with very little progress. He speaks unintelligibly. I now believe he is apraxic. He is currently diagnosed with speech delay. I am interested in having him reevaluated, but that is not a priority for his SLP or his pediatrician. They seem to feel the diagnosis makes no difference, but we all know it does. So here I am. I am at the beginning of a journey with my son, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to help him. Wish me luck!
Tracey – Welcome to my blog! I am so glad you are able to read through some of my older posts and learn more about how to tackle apraxia. Best of luck to you in your healing journey. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Yay! I would love it!
I would love to try this! I am constantly looking for new ways to help my son & have never heard of this.
This would be a great resource
I’m little sad that I missed ASHA convention last year 😦 I had no idea it was held here in Atlanta.
It gives me so much hope that once Jake started speaking, his speech just took off. I’m hoping Aaron’s speech will pick up soon.
By the way, I started making my own Keifer. I haven’t been able to make changes to kids diet, but I’m hoping to include more probiotic food in their diet. Wish me luck!
Naomi – Kefir! Brave woman. I’m in the process of figuring out which direction to take next regarding Jake’s food allergies. I wish I would have known you last year! We could’ve gone to ASHA last year- you could have been my partner in crime! 🙂 Have you heard of The Gluten Summit? It has been on the past few days. Today and Monday are the last two days to watch the free online presentations by the top experts in the field presenting the latest and greatest information on food allergies, gluten intolerance, diet, etc. It is fascinating!! So glad I went in to Dr. Bhatia’s office this week b/c her physician’s assistant told me about it. I’ve buried myself in late night learning sessions & am so ready to get moving on healing my family. Dr. McBride spoke last week about GAPS and I do think that her approach is so very interesting, just very hard to do. Best of luck to you with your Aaron.
It’s wonderful that your giving this workbook away. I would love to win it! I have an almost 4 year old that really needs a program like this.
Would love to add this to Noah’s toolbox!
Blessings,
Alyson
